Our academic day begins officially at 7:50 a.m. Student drop-off begins at 7:35 a.m., and our before care program opens as early as 7:00 a.m. At 7:50, all students begin with homeroom, with broadcast morning prayer and pledge, attendance, and any daily announcements. We celebrate all student and faculty/staff birthdays throughout the year at this time.
Our school then runs 8 academic periods, of 45 minutes each; however, for grades Pre-K-5, grades are self-contained and may adjust these times, except for special area classes. Language arts, including language and literature, is always a double period, for 90 minutes each day. Daily subjects for all grades include language arts, math, religion, science, and social studies (6 class periods total). One period is reserved for recess and lunch. The remaining period is devoted to special area classes, although primary grades do have two special area classes in one day a few times/week. Special area classes include gym, art, music, library, and computer.
On Tuesdays and Fridays, we have school mass from 8:05-9:00 a.m. Mondays and Fridays allow for a study hall in the afternoon, from 2:10-2:30, for students to meet with teachers, receive extension activities, or get caught up on anything they may not have fully understood earlier. Dismissal time runs approximately 2:40-2:50 each day except for Wednesdays. On Wednesdays throughout the year, we have early dismissal at 2:15 so that we can have faculty collaboration time, allowing our teachers to better work together to serve our children.
For Pre-K, our half day offering dismissed at 11:10 a.m. and special area classes are offered in both the morning and afternoon. The full day program includes a daily nap in the afternoon. Full day Pre-K dismisses at the same times described above.
We proudly offer after care running until 5:45 p.m. Some of our students may alternatively engage in a sport or club following dismissal. Please see our athletics, clubs and activities, or before and after care links for more information.
